The Kumul Petroleum Academy Job-Ready Technicians’ Scholarship Training Program

 

The Kumul Petroleum Academy (KPA) – NTC RTO 187 – is offering a 12-month competency‐based training ‘Job-Ready Technicians’ Scholarship Training Program supported by the oil, gas, LNG, power and mining industries.

The training provides opportunities to the next generation of Papua New Guineans to develop lifelong knowledge and practical skills for employment in PNG and potentially elsewhere in the region. City & Guilds is a world leader in skills education and is widely recognized throughout the industry.

Successful applicants will receive sponsorship from ExxonMobil PNG Limited, Oil Search Limited, Total, and other PNG Oil and Gas Companies, for the 12 months training program at KPA.

ExxonMobil PNG Limited is looking to sponsor 16 successful Junior Production (Operations) Technicians for 2020 intake. Suitable candidates that meet the selection criteria from the PNG LNG project areas are encouraged to apply.

The program is designed to develop:
  • Production (Operations) Technicians
  • Instrument Technicians
  • Electrical Technicians
  • Mechanical Technicians

The Program Comprises:
  • 12 Month Program Commitment
  • City & Guilds international training standards
  • A Safe Live Plant Training Environment

Applicants for scholarships must:
  • Have completed highest educational qualification in the last eight year
  • Preferably have technical vocational trade certificate Level II or III in Mechanical, Production, Instrumentation, Electrical or related fields with clean discipline record with at least one year work experience; and/or Grade 12 leavers with sound academic results in Math and English.
  • Have good spoken and written English
  • Have well‐developed interpersonal and communication skills

Applications should include the following:
  • Completed KPA City & Guilds Qualified 
  • Technician Application Form and updated CV
  • Authenticated (certified by a Commissioner of Oath / Village Councillor) copies of academic certificates and 3 recent references
  • Certified copy of the birth certificate or NID card or other valid proof of age and ID

The selection process for enrolment comprises:
  • 2020 City & Guilds Qualified Junior Technicians Application Form
  • Interviews
  • Psychometric / Aptitude Tests, which will include mathematical aptitude/reasoning and spatial recognition as examples
  • Medical and Police Clearance and agreement to behavioural codes
